Human beings today have many extrinsic aspects they need to deal with causing stress or increased boredom with routine tasks. Everything we design is adding to this mental clutter by increasing the stress and reducing the attention span. Given that, I believe designers have a larger calling, to think beyond transactional interfaces and truly empathize with users we are designing for, and design for a better emotional state of the user.

Recently stumbled on a Mckinsey research that indicated that majority of the companies do not know how to leverage a design function well. Reference below, and some thoughts on why having access to this capability, and leveraging it well, could be of high value to the C Suite.
